The 23rd edition of FOREXPO, the European forest and silvestri
exhibition will take place near BORDEAUX, in Technopole Montesquieu,
Gironde district, in the village of Martillac, from the 11th to
the 13th of June 2008. Two very new ideas will be demonstrated:
one about the wood-energy and the other about the second-hand equipments.
FOREXPO, as a real showcase and forum for the cultivated forests
of Southern Europe, bring answers to the very specific needs of
mountains ranges, reforestation, forest management, harvests, wood
use and more generally, the valorisation of resources. During those
three days, with demonstrations and discussions all reserved to
professional people, this exhibition will answer the problems of
professional constructors every four years.
It is being sponsored
by the ASCODIF (Association of constructors and forest material
dealers).
The fair will take place on a site covering about 80 hectares
(exhibition and parking lot) organized in a loop of 2,6 km, from
research studies to the development of enterprises and consulting
firms, from reforestation to exploitation, including transportation
of wood. It will also propose an area with full attention paid
to security of visitors in order to show working equipment as well
as all other kinds of demonstrations.
The star of this next edition 2008 will be the wood as renewable
energy. The main part of the exhibition of the wood energy sector
is demonstrated from the phases of initial study to its actual
use in a boiler. The demonstration wants to reaffirm how the wood
sector, as eco-material takes of first place.
The primary sponsor
is the PEFC - France and Aquitaine, (European Program for certified
forests). Because biomass, especially that originating from forests,
is so in fashion, discussions will deal with sustainable development
and strategic diversification of outlets.
Finally, this year, the fair is open to second-hand equipment.
It wants to bring a concrete solution to the exhibitors, who are
confronted with the need to develop this kind of market at the
European level. The plans for this year have attracted attention
of manufacturers: 2008 should be a test year for FOREXPÕOCCASION.
Aquitaine represents all by itself
70% of all French private coniferous forest and 50% for other varieties
of trees.
FOREXPO, as one of founding members of the international network
of the major forestry events ÒForestry Demo FairsÓ, is organized
by the GIE FOREXPO and is associated with the Silvestry Union of
South West (SSSO), the CPFA (Productivity Center and Forest activity
of Aquitaine) and the Union Sylvestry of Southern Europe (USSE).
It is financially supported by
the Regional Council of Aquitaine and the General Council of Gironde,
PEFC France and Aquitaine, RTE (Network of the Transportation of
Electricity) and Caisse dÕEpargne Aquitaine Nord (French Bank).

The 23rd edition of FOREXPO, the European
Exhibition of Sylviculture and Forestry, will be held in Bordeaux from
June 11 to 13, 2008.
With its return to the site of Bordeaux Technopole Montesquieu Gironde,
the event re-emphasises the fundamental features which go to make its
force and unique character:
¥ the showcase of machinery, technical procedures and know-how related
to man-made forests,
¥ the forum of all the main, highly
topical problems of forestry: sustainable forest management and
PEFC certification, global warming, wood and energy, timber as a
renewable ecological material, the timber market, protecting forests
from fire, and more.
¥ on site demonstrations, in stands
designed to highlight the latest technological developments in forestry
machinery,
¥ a business meeting where exhibitors
from Northern Europe bring answers to the requirements of tree-growing
in the south,
¥ the truly international flavour
of the event, under the aegis of the Union of Tree-Growers of Southern
Europe.
The site covering nearly 80 hectares, set in the heart of the forest
but within the immediate vicinity of an international airport, a TGV
railway station, strategic road connections and top-class hotel facilities,
had already proved that it met all the requirements of a modern professional
event.
The exhibition, as a founder member of the international network of
leading forestry events, Forestry Demo Fairs, is organised by the FOREXPO
EIG, together with the Guild of Tree-Growers of South-West France, the
Aquitaine Centre of Forest Productivity and Action (CPFA) and the Union
of Tree-Growers of South Europe (USSE).
